Wood head can be divided into casting two-piece type and forging four-piece type.
This article is to share with you the process of forging four pieces.
First of all, introduce the metal raw materials that our golf wood head will use.
1. Low density and high specific strength
2. Strong corrosion resistance
3. Strong heat resistance
4. Strong low temperature resistance
5. High tensile strength and yield strength
Material number | Ingredient | Features |
GR2 | Fe0.2,C0.08,N0.03,O0.25,H0.015 | High strength and good plasticityMainly used to make pipes. |
GR3 | Fe0.2,C0.08,N0.03,O0.35,H0.015 | Higher strength than GR2, slightly lower plasticityMainly used for ball joint welding pipe. |
GR4 | Fe0.2,C0.08,N0.03,O0.35,H0.015 | The highest hardness among industrial pure titanium, used to make the bottom and crown |
TC4/GR5 | AL6,V4,Fe0.3,Si0.15,C0.1,N0.05,O0.2,H0.01 | High strength, used for face |
TI2041 | AL4,V20,Sn1 | Increase hardness by heat treatment, very high strength and good elasticity |
1. Martensitic stainless steel(Magnetic!)
Stainless steel whose mechanical properties can be adjusted by heat treatment.
This is a class of hardened stainless steel.
The hardness is higher after quenching, and different tempering temperatures have different combinations of strength and toughness.
Main material: SUS430, SUS431, SUS630/S.S17-4, etc
2. Austenitic stainless steel( Non-magnetic!)
It has stable structure under normal temperature, and cannot change hardness through heat treatment. It has high toughness and plasticity, but low strength, and can only be strengthened through cold working.
Main material: SUS202, SUS303, SUS304, SUS316 and so on
3. Maraging stainless steel (Magnetic!)
Aging refers to the heat treatment process that maintains its shape, size, performance and changes with time after quenching at high temperature or after a certain degree of cold working deformation when placed at a higher temperature or room temperature.
Main material: SUS450, SUS455, SUS460, etc
Maraging | Density(G/mm2) | Hardness (HRC) | Tensile strength(kgf/mm2) | Yield strength(kgf/mm2) | Extensibility(%) |
coustom450 | 7.76 | 42.5±2 | 137.8 | 132.2 | 14 |
coustom455 | 7.76 | 48±2 | 175.8 | 168.75 | 10 |
coustom465 | 7.83 | 50±2 | 184.3 | 170.2 | 13 |
CH1 | 7.715 | 50±2 | 184 | 174 | 13 |
coustom465+ | 7.83 | 52±2 | 210 | 197.5 | 12 |
AERMET100 | 7.89 | 52±2 | 200.5 | 176 | 13 |
Material Area
The operating machine cuts these steel or titanium plates into long strips, and then cuts these long strips into some pieces of iron plate of suitable size.
Spot weld all the required materials, then weld them, and a forged 4-piece wood Rough head is done.
